2. The Weather For the most part anyway. :) The summers have a couple of unbearable months, but we've found a lot of indoor activities to do! I love being able to go outside in the winter, and I love NOT having to drive in the snow! Although it does get pretty cold here! I'm surprised every winter!
3. The Rain It doesn't rain very often here, but when it rains, it pours! It's fun to have a rainy day because they're so few and far between. And the smell is great! It smells different here.
4. The Valley Vegas really isn't big compared to some places (LA/Phoenix), but I have really liked the fact that I can SEE all of Vegas. When you drive into Vegas from the north, you can see the whole valley. Anyplace that you can SEE all of really isn't that big. I'm a little lost here in Phoenix! It is so flat. I don't know how far the city continues in any direction!!!
5. The Saguaro (suh-war-oh) We don't have these in Vegas, so I have really enjoyed them here in Phoenix. They're amazing! Did you know it takes 75 years for them to grow an arm? And that they are a protected species? It's so funny to look at the little hills/mountains here because they are mostly bare with a bunch of sticks (cacti) poking up all over. It's very odd looking when you've grown up with trees!
6. The Sunsets Sunsets are great in most places, but here you have such a great view! This was a really awesome sunset, but I missed most of it in the minute it took to run inside and grab my camera!!
Although the desert may look a bit brown and boring, there are many great and beautiful things about it! That completes my list for now!

Beautiful pictures! I love the desert too. I can't believe I actually think the desert is quite beautiful, it really is, just a different kind of beauty!
I love your list. I am glad that you have learned to love the desert. It has its own beauty. I appreciate the same things. And, I will add to your list. I love a dry hot summer night sitting out on the deck of a houseboat.
That's where I first noticed the wind! Sleeping on the houseboat! Whenever I hear the palm trees rustling, that's what I think of! :)
I grew up in the desert and never appreciated it until I moved away (I know, Utah is supposedly a desert, but not really!). I miss the palm trees, and going outside at night and not freezing to death. And I agree with you--I hate driving in the snow!! I don't miss the coyotes eating our cats, though.
I am glad you like the desert, but now I have to hide your blog from Rick somehow so he doesn't start pushing these points on me.
He he! :) Sorry about that. This is not a post saying that I can't leave this awesome place. Just stating that I've enjoyed it!!!
We're coming down there on the 11th or 12th. Can we get together before you guys take off??
Love your list! I've learned to love the desert, too. I always imagined raising my family in California but Vegas has really grown on me. Thanks for reminding me of how nice it can be.
