Santa Ana Zoo

On Thursday Lucas and I were able to go to the Santa Ana Zoo with my friend Colleen. Colleen and I taught together in Utah, and now she's living down here in CA with her husband and cute daughter Abbie. It was so fun to see her and catch up!

The zoo was really nice! It wasn't very big, but it had a great farm section with pigs, cows, goats, horses, etc. Lucas always asks for pigs when we visit zoos. And these pigs were huge! They weighed over 500 pounds! And their ears were humongous too. Each ear was bigger than both of my hands put together, and they hung over the pigs' eyes. I don't know how they could see! I don't have a picture...and I don't know why I'm telling you so much about pigs. :) Lucas did touch a goat on the farm, which was very brave of him!

Here are Lucas and Abbie in a turtle shell.

This was Lucas' FAVORITE part, inside the aviary. He loved the bright red "peacocks," the turtles (they were everywhere!), and the fish in the pond. There were hundreds of little minnows in the pond, and Lucas wanted to touch them. I'm surprised I was able to keep him from jumping in! I did have to drag him screaming from this spot.

It was a fun trip. The zoo was perfect for a 2-year-old, and it was great to see Colleen and Abbie!

Lucas is a such a character! When ever I go to the zoo I always wonder if they'll take kids, too! :) All my kids belong in a zoo!
