Since Lucas has been getting his 2-year molars, he has been chewing on his pacifiers and putting holes in them. When he was down to his last one, this was our conversation:
Me: When that one is ruined, then we don't have anymore binkies! That's your last one.
Lucas put it his mouth and made lots of funny blowing noises because of the holes.
Clint: Do you want me to hold it for you and you can sleep without it?
Lucas: Yes, throw it in the garbage. It has holes in it.
And that was it! He has not asked for it or even mentioned a binky even one time since!!!! Who knew it would be soooooooooooo easy! Only one problem...the binky put him in "bedtime mode." When we would give him his binky at bedtime, his eyes would start to roll back in his head. Now he's just a total nutcase that won't settle down....

That is so funny! Hopefully it will be that easy with Carson! By the way...your garden is looking great! You'll be eating those radishes in no time!
It's amazing how when they are ready they are ready. Most of the time it's us as parents that don't want to let go. I remember getting rid of Ben's and he was fine, but I was like how will I keep him quiet in church.
How great!! I remember when we took Hannah's bottle away, she only asked for it once. I was so geared up for a major tantrum. I hope you find a replacement to get him into "bedtime mode".
Yeah for you guys! I am glad that de-binkie-ing him wasn't hard.
I must admit - it has always been easier for my children to go without binkies, than it is for me. They are my comfort as they help them go to sleep so quickly. - I'm glad lucas did so well - as to gettting kids to bed quickly and easy - if you find an answer- please share! :)
That sounded really easy. Hudson would never take a binky. Next time you are in Utah let me know and I will copy some of my favorite lullaby cds Hudson loves them and falls asleep so quickly when he hears nice soft music.
That is great! Rick keeps pressuring me to get rid of the binki.
Bye Bye baby, hello little boy.
You are so lucky! Rene'e is 3 1/2 and still sleeps with hers tied to her bed.
that is the best story ever. I have never heard of it done that easy, go Lucas!
