Cruisin'

Last week Clint and I were able to go on a cruise! We were on the ship Monarch of the Seas, and we went to San Diego, Catalina Island, and Ensenada. About 2 hours before we were supposed to leave, Lucas started acting tired, sick, and feverish! Of course! So this is how we left him with Grandma Claire: He ended up throwing up a lot the day we left, and I think he laid around the second day, but then he perked up! Thanks, Jim, Claire, and Devin for taking such good care of Lucas! We really enjoyed our break!

The cruise was so much fun. We ate until we were sick! We had two other couples at our dining room table: some honeymooners and another very interesting couple. Let's just say we never ran out of things to talk about...or listen to!
Formal dinner night

I loved looking at the ocean and looking for animals! I think I saw a whale. :)

I love all the animal towels!

A nice fruit arrangement from the midnight chocolate buffet.

Our first stop was San Diego, but we didn't get off because we had just been there. So we relaxed on the boat and ate a lot. :) The next stop was Catalina Island. We did some shopping and walked over to see the Casino. The Casino is a round building built by Mr. Wrigley of Wrigley's gum. It's actually a movie theater. You can take a tour through it, but we were too cheap! So here's a nice picture of the outside!

Ensenada was our favorite stop. We took a tour out to see La Bufadora (the blowhole) and do some shopping. Our tour guide was pretty funny, and we learned some interesting facts on our way. La Bufadora is a place where the rocks come together just right, so that when the water rushes in, it shoots up like a geyser. It was pretty cool! And listening to the crowd say, "Whoooooaaaaa!" everytime the water shot up gave me a good laugh!
All the vendors were like SHARKS! Some of my favorite quotes were said to Clint: "Come into my store! I want your money!!!" and "Thank you for being so cold-blooded!" I ended up buying a purse. I thought that I would be able to get one for about $20. When I asked the guy how much a certain purse was, he said, "$96, but for you, $66!" I couldn't believe it!!!! Anyway, I ended up getting a real, genuine fake Chenille purse for $30. Much better than $96! I felt like a pretty good bargainer! Clint was proud of me.

We had a great time! If you haven't been on a cruise, we highly recommend one. Our only regret--they didn't have a soft-serve ice cream machine on our boat! That was our favorite part on the last 2 cruises. We were very grateful for the break, but we were so happy to see Lucas when we got back! We missed him!

How fun and relaxing. A trip for just the two of you now I'm jealous. I personally think a cruise is the best way to travel. Especially with a midnight chocolate buffet. Chris would be rolling me off of that cruise ship.

Yeah you finally got a vacation just the two of you! I am glad you had such a wonderful time. Now you have to start planning your next one! I am so sorry to hear about Lucas being sick...poor guy. That must of been torture leaving him...but fun for him with Grandma!!

I wonder if Lucas was partially sick b/c he knew mommy and daddy were leaving?

Way back when the earth was cooling, my mother hung out at the Casino when she was a teenager. I think back then it was a dance hall.

I think southern CA must have been a blast in the 50's.

If you can believe it, my grandmother as a teenager, (go back a couple of more decades) used to take the local train into (LA)the movie studios and hang out as extras on the sets.

Glad you had a great trip. Makes me think about going on a cruise.

I am impressed you did it pregnant. What a fun trip. Nick and I did that cruse the summer we moved to Henderson. It was a great time.

Fun! I just need to know if you ever get tired out. You are always on the go! Just let me know when you get back from CA and we can go swimming again. Enjoy Yosemite this weekend!

We stayed on that same boat for our cruise to Ensenada and we loved it, too! Isn't the La Bufadora fun?? We liked the mean things the vendors would say, too. The best was when a little girl (maybe 3 or 4 years old) kicked my dad and said really bad words at him.

We're glad you had such a great time and got a break!

That sounded so fun! I did that same cruise in college with a bunch of friends but I bet it would be a million times better with your hubby. Your vendor stories made me laugh right out loud! Classic. Glad little Luke was okay- what timing, geesh! :)
