Shark Reef
Wyatt was hired as an aquarist at the Shark Reef, and he's able to take immediate family for free, so we went to check it out on Monday.
Here's the Golden Crocodile:
Lucas was a little afraid of all of the fish at first (he didn't want to get too close to the glass). He needed to hold hands to get a closer look.
Wyatt knows lots of things about all of the creatures!! This is the parrot fish. Parrot fish eat coral, and when they poop it out, it becomes sand! Gross. :) Look at that creepy mouth! THAT is a great example of why I'm afraid of swimming in the ocean!
Wyatt also told us that octupi (?) are very intelligent. They are given enrichment activities! For example, sometimes their food is put in a jar, and they have to figure out how to get it out. Wyatt has also had his fingers sucked on by an octupus!
Oooooooooooo, SHARKS!
Getting Lucas to touch a sting ray was a group effort! He really wanted to touch one but he was so nervous. He eventually did it! I touched one too. I've never touched one before. They're a very interesting texture. Almost mushy!!
The gift shop is always a fun place! Attack of the Komodo Dragons!
Thanks for a fun time, Wyatt! And thanks for educating us! :)

Shark Reek is a lot of fun (I love aquariums) but good thing you have somebody to get you in!
Octopi are pretty cool, aren't they? And I enjoyed the tidbit about the parrot fish, too...(sigh) I wish there were some oceans in Spokane!
Your pictures are classic proof about why we don't swim in the ocean...give me a lake with gators any day over the ocean! We definitely need to make a trip to Vegas soon so I can take Zoe Grace to the shark reef...it looks really cool!
Good job Lucas and Natalie feeling the sting ray! Trying new things can be scary. Shark reef looks like fun. Pictures turned out pretty good. Aquarium light is dark and reflective.
Shark reef is cool!! Great job Lucas touching the sting ray - that is very brave!
I'm glad you guys had a good time...I didn't realize I was giving you cool tidbits. I was glad Lucas got around to finally touching the Ray...LOL!!! Next time I will have to show you guys all of the stuff I get to do in the back.
I am so glad you enjoy my blog. It has been fun to update and get comments. The shark reef looks cool! You guys do the funnest things! I can't wait to hear when your sweet girl is born. They are so precious! Abbie is a joy! It will be interesting to see the difference between Lucas and his sister! Fun times for you!
Take care!
