Home Improvements

We have been so busy the last few months doing some home improvements. Our house was a tan-ish color, and we painted it white! I painted my kitchen bright green. Whoo-hoo! Thanks to our painting helpers, Wyatt and Lucas!

(Old color on the left, with old blinds)

The camera just doesn't quite do the green justice! It is very bright. I love bright colors!

We had disgusting white linoleum in the kitchen and carpet in the dining room. My dad came and ripped it all out and laid tile for us. What a project! My dad taught Clint how to use the tile saw, and I learned how to lay tile and grout! I was worried about having tile--keeping it clean and feeling all the yucky stuff on my feet--but I LOVE it! It is so beautiful! Thanks, Dad!
I found a valance pattern that I loved online. It seemed a bit difficult for me, but I went for it because my grandma and mom were both coming to visit. My grandma taught me how to make piping, and she created a pattern for me. My mom helped me cut out the material and started the process of sewing on the piping. We would have made it much farther, but I pinned and sewed 8 sections the wrong way. So, my mom and I spent the rest of her time visiting ripping my sewing out. Whoops! :) But, they are finished and hanging finally!!! We also bought new blinds.

We still have some pictures to hang and decorations to buy, but here is the (mostly!) finished product!
We love it! But we're home-improvement-ed out! :)

WOW! So awesome. Seriously, I've always wanted to paint my walls in my home... but I get overwhelmed just thinking about it. And I'm too indecisive about color. I love what you chose! And you're lucky to get free labor :) Hard to believe I've never actually met your dad - since I've known your fam so long - but from everything I've heard, he's a great guy!
