Red Rock Canyon

Today we went to Red Rock Canyon with our friends, Neil and Tisha and kids. I've been wanting to go for awhile, and Clint had the day off today! Whoo-hoo! We stopped at the Visitors' Center first. I love this picture! Payton, Ellie, Max, Lucas, and Kate. The kids loved working on their Junior Ranger's workbooks.
There were lots of great picture spots as we drove around the scenic drive. Next, we stopped to see some petroglyphs and eat our picnic lunch. There was water coming down the rocks. Lucas thought it was pee. Here are Lucas and Max touching the pee. :) Lucas also said, wistfully, "I wish I could go to Red Rock."
The boys had too much exploring to do to eat their lunch! Here they are making their "tree" faces. After lunch, we hiked the Children's Discovery Trail. It was a great hike! There was a lot of climbing up and over rocks, which the boys loved. We reached a waterfall at the end of the hike.Dads and boys behind the waterfall.Moms and boys
The girls waiting patiently. They did not get to go behind the waterfall. They had to settle for some Twizzlers instead!
Kate making silly faces!
I tried to give Kaitlin a sucker so that she would stay awake for part of the drive home. I think she passed out on her 3rd lick with her sucker partially in her mouth. We had such a great time today! Outdoor family activities are the best! I didn't realize that Red Rock is only 30 minutes away. We will definitely be going there more often! Thanks, Woolfs, for a fun day!
