Clark County Fair!

The day finally arrived--Fair Day! Whoo-hoo!

First up, pig races! Lucas got to cheer on our team's pig, and it won! So he won a pig nose and a pack of Oreos. Look at all those kids! Workers at one booth asked if we took a bus to get there! :)

(Ally, Kate, Hank, Chloe, Jared, Lucas, Max, Ellie)

Then we saw a dog show. One dog caught 18 out of 20 frisbees in one minute! There was a section of free games for the kids to play and get their arms painted. Kate got a heart on her arm, and she kept saying, "Pretty!" Lucas and his friends loved running from game to game.We also saw a pirate show (no pics) and Mutton Bustin'! Do you know what that is?? I didn't! Kids from the area can sign up to ride a sheep. The longer they stay on, the more points they earn. Before the show, Lucas said he would not like to ride a sheep. After he watched the kids, he said, "Certainly, yes!" So maybe we'll sign him up next year!! The kids enjoyed the nice, cool sand. It was hot sitting in the sun watching the shows!Another exhibit: Kate stayed awake for such a long time!! She could barely keep her eyes open while playing with these magnets!! Lucas was a handy tool man.Lucas and Max enjoying nice, cool slushies. We should have gotten them before all of the hot shows! The baby pigs were a hit again this year!Kate kept running back and forth between the piglets and the baby chicks.Ellie, Kate, and Payton were stunned when the big momma got up to move!! When we went to see the full grown pigs, there was a pig that would not go into his cage. He kept running up and down the aisle. (Lucas was not happy about that). I tried to shove the pig's face up against the bars so he couldn't get through--ha ha ha. The pig shoved right by me like I was a feather! Those guys are strong! What Lucas would look like as a farmer: He takes farming very seriously. And what he would look like with pigtails!Clint and Neil (Max's dad) were able to join us in the evening. They met up with us at the lumberjack show, where Kaitlin crawled into Clint's arms and went to sleep immediately. The lumberjack show was Lucas' favorite! He laughed so much. His favorite part was when the lumberjacks were running on the log and one man fell and landed with the log between his legs. When asked if he was alright, he said, in a girl voice, "I'm okay." Lucas laughed hysterically. After the show, the lumberjacks signed pieces of wood for the kids.Lucas and Jared sharing Max's gigantic snow cone.

Other things we did: watched the Monster Shop dance show, saw the "cow show" (one boy's cow ran away from him and his was crying-poor kid), saw baby porcupines, a monkey, and a zebra, and touched some sting rays. We also visited the arts and crafts building.

And, finally, what the kids had been waiting for all day!! Rides!!! This was the first time Kate went on a ride by herself. I was afraid she might try to get up, but she didn't! They both had such a blast!
The fair lived up to my expectations! We were so glad that Clint was able to come. We loved being with our friends and spending the whole day there! (I tried to get some video of Kate on the ride, but it was going too fast)!
