What.A.Day.

Lucas didn't have school today, so we went with a bunch of friends to Lake Mead.  The weather was perfect, and the kids had a great time: digging in the dirt, swimming, and playing Star Wars.  For the first 2 1/2 hours anyway, until Lucas' foot got cut open by something in the lake!!!  Lucas seems to be our blood-gushing-at-ward-activities kid.  (Warning!  I included a picture!  Don't look if you get squeamish easily)!

Lucas' friend, Sean, and his mom, Tonya, helped Lucas get out of the lake.  Blood was gushing all over the place!  Tonya wrapped his foot up in a bandana, and Jill used tape from her first aid kit to hold it all together.  I held Lucas, while Leah was the lucky one to change Kate's poopy diaper and get her back in her clothes.  Lucas kept shouting, "I NEVER WANT TO COME HERE AGAIN!  I WANT DADDY!"

We threw the stuff in the car, and off we went to the Urgent Care!  Since the bleeding had stopped and Max was with us, Lucas was pretty cheery in the car.  We met Tisha on the freeway, and she took Max and a sleeping Kaitlin.

Lucas rather enjoyed his wheelchair and wanted to take it home with us.  He is armless in all of these pics because it was cold. 

He wanted to wear his Mario hat while getting stiched up.  The nurse put his legs in a mummy wrap and held them, and I bear hugged him during the whole process.  The doctor gave him shots of Novocain (very painful), but he still seemed to feel all of the stiches but one.  He ended up with 6 stiches.  The doctor said that Lucas should try to stay off of his foot for about 2 weeks!  The nurse said to do our best! 

Afterward, the doctor gave Lucas an obviously used Magic (permanent!) Marker for his prize and told him he could do magic with it.  Hmmmm.  I don't know if they take care of many kids at that office.

Once the whole thing was finally over, Lucas took a wheelchair to the waiting room, where we were surprised by Clint!  Boy, was Lucas happy!!!  They headed home, and I went to buy medical supplies and pick up Kate (who slept almost the whole time, great girl)!

Sidenote:  We brought red Kool-Aid squeeze-its with us, which Kaitlin kept squirting all over the place!  As I bent over to take it away, she hit me right between the eyes, full force, and then it splashed all over her hair, face, and tummy.  Annoying but so funny.
