Right? Doesn't every kid fall out of a shopping cart at least once in his/her life? Today was Lucas' day. He was sitting, safely buckled in, until we got to the check-out. He likes to help me place all of the food on the conveyer belt (is that the proper term?). So, I unbuckled him so he could be a happy helper. As I was swiping my card, I saw Lucas' legs flying through the air. I reached out to catch his leg, but all I ended up with was a shoe! He landed. Hard. Face first. Legs straight up in the air. EVERYONE was watching, and at least 5 people came running over. Don't worry, he still has all of his teeth. He surprisingly doesn't have any bumps or bruises! Moral of the story? Buckle up your kid! Or leave him at home!!!

It Had To Happen Eventually...
Right? Doesn't every kid fall out of a shopping cart at least once in his/her life? Today was Lucas' day. He was sitting, safely buckled in, until we got to the check-out. He likes to help me place all of the food on the conveyer belt (is that the proper term?). So, I unbuckled him so he could be a happy helper. Poor kid! I am glad that he is alright. I think it does happen to almost everyone. Leo has had plenty of knocks. I have noticed store personnel are extra careful around kids, that must be why.
So sorry about your fall, Lucas. You look OK now...you must be one tough cookie! :)
The Duke is tuff as nails. Did he cry at all? he was probly more shook up then anything
Yeah, he cried for a minute or two, until he saw the credit card machine! Then he wanted to push the buttons and "pay!" Very quickly distracted!
I can't believe it...or can I? I am sorry about you having to go through that. That would be so scary to witnes.
I am putting this as an anonymous comment you will know who I am by the name.. anyway when Hudson was about 5 months he fell out of his car seat that was in the front of a cart. he hit his head on the way down and then I caught him before he hit the ground.. I have never felt like such a failure when it happened since I was in a crowded toy isle when it happened and five mothers looked at me like I should have children. to make it worse we were killing time before our family picture appointment so he had a big bump on his head in the pic. I got some makeup and made it lighter but I still felt bad.. so at least in your cast Lucas is older and tougher and his soft spot is hard.
I'm just waiting for the day that it will happen to us. And knowing us, it's probably coming soon! I really do think it happens to everyone and I will vow today to not give dirty looks to other parents when it is there turn because we will all be there someday!!!
That is the funniest thing I have ever read. It is just as good as Brooke falling out of her stroller. I love it! I thought I was the only one with BAD MOM moments.
