California Trip

When Kate woke up from her nap at the fair, she was feverish and wouldn't eat for the rest of the night. She was feverish on Friday, too. Here she is snuggling with her brother. (I have to start this California Trip post with this info so you can understand how truly exhausted we were by Sunday!! Fair, sick kid, and a trip to California for 36 hours)! Clint called in a prescription for her. It's the second one he has called in. He's a true doctor! :)
We got to Grandma and Grandpa's house around dinner on Friday, where Lucas quickly and happily pulled out all of Grandma's toys. Kate was still really happy and friendly, even though she had a fever. That night, she woke up at 1:30 a.m. and stayed awake until 4:30! Clint and I took shifts staying awake with her. We finally all got back to sleep, and what do we hear at 5:30 a.m.?? "Dad! Dad! I'm not tired anymore!" Ah! So, now we have long day/late night at the fair + travelling + sleepless night!

We went down to California because a resident in Clint's program got married. It was fun being out without the kids and visiting with everyone Clint works with. We also got to eat yummy food! Thank you, Claire, for watching the kids!!
The rest of Saturday was spent playing hard with cousins!!! Aunt Megan helping the kids decorate Uncle Wyatt's birthday cupcakes.

I don't think a CA trip would be complete without a major wrestling match! The kids were all so sweaty afterwards.
Lucas had a headache after wrestling, which he would miraculously recover from each time I left the room.
Some of the girls. Megan and I had fun doing girl things, like baking and braiding each other's hair. Ha! :) Never before done in the Salo house!
We left by 7 a.m. on Sunday to be back for our first Sunday in our new ward. After surviving another tiring day, here are the sleep hours we racked up Sunday night:
Clint: 9 p.m. - 7 a.m.
Lucas: 7:30 p.m. - 7 a.m.
Me: 7:45 p.m. - 7 a.m. (I haven't been to bed that early in about 20 years)!
Kate: 6:15 p.m. - 8:30 a.m. (And I woke her up)!


We sure played hard!!!! We had a lot of catching up to do on our sleep! But it was worth it!
